Abstract Paintings
The abstract paintings fall into three series: Biomorphic, Complexity, and Linear.
The Biomorphic paintings are inspired by natural forms, plants, animals, coral reefs, microscopic life, and in particular, seashells. the paintings are rich with visual paradoxes so that the viewer might have a new and different experience with every viewing.
Complexity is a new branch of science that is used for studying ecosystems, weather patterns, economics, etc. Between the extremes of order and chaos lies the fertile ground of complexity. In abstract art this would be at the mid point between the order of Mondrian and the chaos of Pollock. These works are looser, freer, and packed full of more detail than the Biomorphic Series. Rather than paint a coral reef I’ve attempted to paint in a way that reflects the way a reef works.
The Linear paintings are my response to the color, light, and atmosphere of South Florida. They take their names from real places but are not landscapes per se. In these paintings I’ve explored abstract composition in a more spontaneous mode.
